Effective 25 September 2026
Privacy policy
1. Who is responsible
Aurelune Studios runs the Aurelune website, game server and Discord and is responsible for the personal data described here. Reach us in Discord (link at the bottom). This policy covers the website and the server; Discord's and Stripe's own policies cover what happens inside their services.
2. What we collect
We collect only what the site and the server need to work:
- Your Discord account: your Discord id, username and avatar, the roles you hold in our Discord (they decide what you can see and do here), and, if you choose the supporter tier at checkout, which Discord servers you are in, checked at sign-in.
- Your Minecraft account: the uuid and name you link, your skin (for portraits), and what you do on the server: sessions, deaths, chat commands that touch the site, builds, fish, quests, claims, warps, trades, levels and the rest. This is the material the Chronicle, the leaderboards and your profile are made from.
- What you put on the site: posts, showcases, profile text, images, guild pages, event RSVPs, vouches, applications and direct messages.
- Reports you make, and the conversation we save with them (see sections 4 and 6).
- Purchases: the pack you bought, the amount, the currency, the time, the Minecraft account it went to, and any creator code used. Card details go to Stripe and never to us.
- Creators on the cash tier: your Stripe account id and whether Stripe will pay it. Your identity, bank and tax details are collected and held by Stripe, not us.
- Technical: your IP address and browser details in our hosting provider's request logs, kept briefly for security and to keep the site up. We do not run advertising trackers.
3. Why we use it
To sign you in and remember you; to link your Discord and Minecraft accounts; to run the server and the site's features; to deliver what you buy and to pay creators; to write the Chronicle and keep the boards; to moderate and to keep people safe; to answer you; and to keep records the law requires (payments, tax).
Where a law asks for a legal basis: running the service you asked for (contract), our legitimate interest in a working, safe community, your consent where you choose something optional (a public presence listing, a creator page, the supporter tier), and legal obligations for payments and tax.
4. What other people see
Aurelune is a community and much of it is public by design. Your Minecraft name, skin and what you do on the server appear on the site: in the Chronicle, on leaderboards, on your profile and on the family tree of who vouched for whom. Your Discord name is not shown publicly. Private claim coordinates are never shown.
The Chronicle is the server's weekly paper. We put it together from the week's record and curate it before it goes up. It uses Minecraft names and what happened on the server, and nothing else about you: no Discord details, messages, emails or payment details.
When you give materials to a community build, your name can show under "Built by" on its page. The "Your name on build lists" setting in Away keeps it off for everyone, or shows it to friends only; you're still counted, and you keep any title the build earned you. A guild's settlement name shows on its guild page, in Away and in game; Discord and the Chronicle leave it out.
If you take part in a mystery from the Chronicle, your name can appear on its page and in the paper's solved list, and friends can see how far you've got. Your Quests privacy setting, the switch on the mystery page and /mystery private in game keep both off.
You control some of this from your dashboard: whether you are listed as online, what your profile shows, and your presence and social settings.
Direct messages are private to the people in them. Staff don't browse them.
When you report a player or a message, we save the conversation around it so staff can see what really happened. Until somebody reports, nothing extra is saved. What we save: the messages between you and the player you reported, on the website and in the game, from around the time of the report; that player's recent public chat in the game, and yours. If you report messages on the website, we also save the messages just before and after the ones you picked. The game holds recent chat in memory for about 30 minutes and forgets it unless someone makes a report. Only staff with moderation access can read a saved conversation, and every time one of them opens or searches one, it's recorded. We don't tell the reported player what was saved.
The homepage shows only reviewed community content and players who opted into a public online listing.
5. Who else gets it
We share data only with the services that run Aurelune, and only what each needs:
- Discord (sign-in, roles, our community server and the bot that posts in it).
- Stripe (payments, and creator payouts through Stripe Connect). Stripe is its own data controller for what it collects.
- Vercel (hosts the website) and Supabase (hosts the site's database), both with the data described above.
- Bloom Hosting (hosts the game server and its database) and Bunny.net (serves images).
- Mojang (to look up skins and names) and, for the map, the map software's own tiles.
- Authorities, when the law requires it.
6. How long
Account and profile data stays while you have an account. Purchase records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires (typically seven years). Server activity, the Chronicle's record and the boards are kept as the history of the community; the Chronicle is an archive and past editions are not rewritten. Request logs are kept for days, not months. Direct messages you delete are removed for you and kept only as long as the other party keeps them.
When the game server prints a warning or an error, staff can read that line for up to 14 days, and your Minecraft name or UUID may appear in it. Chat and private messages are hidden before the line is saved, and so is your address wherever the server writes it the usual way — beside a connection, a port or a link.
A conversation saved with a report is deleted 90 days after the report is closed, or after a year if it's never closed. The saved copy keeps a message even if it was deleted after the report was made, so staff can still see it.
Like most Minecraft servers, the game server also writes its own log files, and those include public chat and direct messages sent with commands such as /msg in the game. Only the people who run the server can open them. They aren't deleted on a schedule yet; when that changes, we'll update this page.
7. Your choices and rights
You can see and change most of what we hold on your dashboard. You can unlink your Minecraft account yourself in Away under Settings (staff do it for you if there is a ban on the account, you are in the creator program, or the link changed in the last 30 days, and it waits until anything still on its way to the character has arrived). The character keeps its history when you unlink. You can also change your privacy settings, delete posts and showcases, and withdraw an application.
Depending on where you live you may have the right to access, correct, delete, export or restrict the use of your personal data, to object to some uses, and to complain to a data protection authority. Ask us in Discord and we will act within a month. Deleting your account removes your profile, posts and messages; your Minecraft name will still appear in past Chronicle editions and in purchase and payout records we must keep. A conversation saved with a report, whether you made it or it was about you, stays until its own deletion date in section 6, even after you delete your account, so staff can finish looking into the report.
8. Children
You must meet Discord's minimum age to have an account here. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13; if a parent or guardian tells us we have, we remove it. Purchases by anyone under 18 need a parent or guardian's permission.
9. Cookies and storage
We use a sign-in cookie and a small amount of browser storage for your preferences (a chosen tab, a draft). There are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
10. Changes
We will announce material changes in Discord and update the date at the top of this page.
11. Contact
Staff are in Discord. Your privacy settings are on your dashboard, and the terms of service are next door.
