Books & Publishing

A home for stories, preserved in Minecraft. Discover what players have written, write something of your own, and see how a book becomes a numbered copy you can hold.

From our community

Written by players

Books players chose to list. Their authors decide how much of each you can read here.

The first shelf is empty

No player has listed a book yet. Yours can be the first: write it, prepare it, and choose what to show here.

Write your first book

The path

From a page to a book

Four steps, and only the first needs you to start.

  1. Step 1

    Write

Write in a book and quill as always, or draft on this website. Nothing is public until you choose.

  2. Step 2

    Prepare

Give it a cover and prepare the edition. A prepared edition never changes; a revision is a new edition.

  3. Step 3

    Print

Copies are made in the game, from real materials, at the printworks. Each one is numbered.

  4. Step 4

    Share

Keep a copy, stock a shop, offer one to the library, or let people read it here. Each is your choice.

Preserved in Minecraft

What the archive holds, honestly

These numbers come straight from the records. A listing on this site is not a book on a shelf: a work counts as physically held only once its copies are made and shelved.

Numbered copies issued

No work is marked as physically preserved yet. A work counts once every one of its volumes is printed and shelved in the central library, and its page says where.

Enduring classics

Public-domain books, each with its source and rights on record, prepared as Minecraft volumes. Kept here, apart from player books.

Our mission

Preserve stories, knowledge and voices, and make room for new writers

What we commit to

  • Keep the approved text, its author, translator and edition exactly as given. Excerpts and abridgments are labelled.
  • Put player writing first. Classics add breadth; they never push new authors off the page.
  • Say plainly what is held in Minecraft and what is only listed here.
  • Moderate by clear rules and show when something changes. Nothing is rewritten in secret.

What we do not promise

  • Anonymity or protection from surveillance. A pen name keeps your account private on the page, nothing more.
  • That every book stays forever, or is reachable in every country.
  • That text on a screen cannot be copied by hand. We control who can make numbered copies in the game.

Found a wrong credit, a rights problem or something that should not be here? Use the report button on that book's page.

Good to know

Copies, originals and what is public

Original or copy

An original manuscript is one book. Printed copies are numbered, labelled as copies, and never carry the original's history. Only the author, or an editor they invite, can print copies of a book.

What is shown online

For each edition the author picks: nothing, the card, chosen preview pages, or the whole text. A paid edition's text is never sent to people who have not bought it.

Find a physical copy

Copies are sold in player shops and the market. Look for the title in the market or ask the author.
