Their story
Bram cuts trees at the lumbercamp in Grinwood Forest, fast and clean, and usually alone. He is a Thorncut like Hattie, who runs the camp's orders, and the two of them have argued about crews since they were children. He brings down a tree in two swings and doesn't like being watched while he does it.
What they want: To be left alone to work, and paid fairly for it.

Whoa, don’t sneak up like that. Nearly dropped my axe. And believe me — this axe doesn’t miss twice.
