Landmarks
Aldoria is worth walking. Some places are the server's own, some were raised by players, and the landmark trail shows you both. See them all on the website at Landmarks.
A landmark is a place you can go and stand in. That's the whole idea: stand there for a little while and the server notices you arrived, puts a stamp in your passport, and lets you sign the place's guestbook. Nothing is won. A visit is worth making for the place itself, never for a payout.
How a visit counts
| Where | Stand there for about |
|---|---|
| A player's landmark | 20 seconds |
| One of Aldoria's regions | 15 seconds |
| A sight inside a region | 10 seconds |
| A quest giver's spot | 8 seconds |
Walking, riding a horse and sailing a boat all count. Your first visit adds a stamp; coming back on another day counts as a return visit. The server keeps the day you visited, never the time.
Aldoria's places also go in your Codex, which gives a little Level XP the first time you find them. The landmark stamp itself is only a keepsake.
This week's trail
Every Monday a fresh trail of five stops starts: two of Aldoria's places, two places players built, and one spot kept for a New builder. Stand at all five in one week and you get a Walked the trail stamp. Type /landmark trail in game to see the stops.
Your passport
Your stamps show on your profile as a Passport: "12 of Aldoria's 54 places, and 3 builds."
- Who sees it is up to you, in your privacy settings. It starts at Friends.
- Other players see the month you visited, never the day, and nothing from today or yesterday, so your profile never says where you are right now.
- Places players built show only to your friends. Everyone else sees a count at most.
- Clear my passport removes all your stamps at any time (on your profile, or /landmark passport clear in game). Places keep their visitor counts, and you'd need to visit again to sign their guestbooks.
Guestbooks
Once you've stood at a landmark, you can leave one short note in its guestbook (2 to 200 characters). Staff read each note before it goes up, usually within a day.
- Sign on the landmark's page, or in game with /landmark sign <note> while you stand there.
- Some places have a visit sign showing how many players have stood there. Right-click it to sign the guestbook in a little window.
- Notes are signed "A visitor" unless your passport is public and you choose Sign with my name.
- You can change your note, or take it down whenever you like.
- The builder can say Thank you, or take a note off their page.
Getting there
- Aldoria's places are found on foot, on horseback or by boat. There's no teleport, since finding a region is its Codex discovery. Sail boats run from Moonfall Harbor to Windshore and Aldenburg, and the live map shows where each place is.
- Take me there: when a player's place is open to teleports, press the button on its page while you're online. Stand still for 3 seconds; moving or taking a hit calls it off. PvP is on in the survival worlds, so for 10 seconds after you land you're shielded from other players and from falls (the arrival shield). There's a short wait between trips.
- Warps: some landmarks have an open warp. Copy the /pw command from the landmark's page.
Players who have blocked each other can't visit, sign or even see each other's landmarks.
Put yours on the trail
A showcase, a finished build or a free, open warp can go on the trail. Open its page (your showcase, your build, or your warp under Warps) and press Put it on the landmark trail. The trail's page lists everything you could put forward.
What staff look for: it's finished, it's inside your own claim, there's a safe place for visitors to arrive, it follows the server rules, and there's something to see. Size and polish aren't requirements: small, cosy and new builds are welcome.
- You choose: teleports on or walk-in only, a pin on the live map (off to start), your name on it, and a Discord and Chronicle mention.
- Name the people who built it with you. They each choose whether to put their name on it.
- For a showcase, stand where visitors should arrive, inside your claim, and type /landmark spot.
- Staff write a short lore line for it in the world's voice. If you'd like a change, ask from its page.
- On its page you can add a cover picture and up to ten more (staff take a quick look first), and choose which way the live map faces when people open it.
- Put up a visit sign: look at a sign at your place and type /landmark board. It shows how many players have stood there, and visitors can right-click it to sign your guestbook. Up to three per place; /landmark board remove turns one back into an ordinary sign.
- Hide it any time and it's off the trail, the map and every list at once. Hiding stops new visits, but it can't take back what people already saw.
When your place is on the trail, you and your co-builders get the Landmark Builder tag. It's a title to wear, nothing more: no Coins, no XP and no rank.
