Sound and quiet
Aldoria's places are meant to sound like themselves: a hum in the street, a warmer room inside the tavern, hush in the library. Everything is made for Aurelune, and everything is yours to turn down.
You need the Aurelune resource pack to hear it. Without the pack, places and music stay silent; stations play plain Minecraft sounds instead.
Places
A place with its own sound plays a quiet background bed and, now and then, a small detail. Details are sparse: no more than four a minute, never the same one twice running. Walk from the street into the tavern and the street fades for the tavern after a second or so. Step back out and the tavern lingers a moment, so a doorway never makes it flicker.
Places named for their own sound are the spawn street and square, the tavern, the bakery, the library, the museum, the printworks, the dovecote, the garden and the rain shelter. Those areas are still waiting on a builder to mark them, so you may not hear them yet. Venues, such as the castle hall and the castle study, carry their own sound already, and so does the library's study room.
Venue music
In the castle hall, music plays while the room waits and during intermissions. When a speaker is live, the music goes silent beneath them. A host can switch the music on or off, or call for silence.
Stations
Stations make small sounds when you use them, such as the oven door or kneaded dough. Others nearby hear those too. An oven at work crackles softly now and then, and a cooking pot or dye vat bubbles. When a batch is ready the station chimes once; after that it glows and sparkles until you collect it, without ringing again. Several stations near you never pile up into noise: each listener has a small budget, and the ready chime always gets through. Without the resource pack you hear a plain Minecraft sound in their place.
What others hear
Sounds that belong to the world are heard by everyone in range, the way a chest opens for the whole room in vanilla Minecraft. That covers pets and companions, backpacks, kettles, stations and instruments. The range is about 16 blocks. Menu clicks and your own payment chimes are private to you.
Your dials
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/audio ambience off, low or normal | The bed and details of places |
/audio music off, low or normal | Music in venues |
/audio stations off, low or normal | Station sounds |
/quiet on or off | No sounds or effects from Aurelune features |
/quiet wins over everything. With it on you hear nothing from places, music, stations or other players' pets and instruments, and landmark chimes, titles and similar effects stop. It is a comfort control, so use it whenever you like.
A focus timer can also ask for calm, or for silence, while you work. See Focus and quiet moments.
If something restarts
A level change restarts the sound that was playing. If your pack finishes loading after you join, places start as soon as it does.
