Quests
Quests pay you for the things you were going to do anyway: harvest a field, mine a vein, fish an afternoon, cook, brew, build. Each line runs in tiers. Finish one and the next opens.
Where quests come from
Quests are handed out by people, not by a command. Talk to a quest giver and their menu opens with everything they have for you.
The Quest Master, Ansel Moonwright, stands in the Moonfall Castle courtyard. He hands out your first steps and the daily errands and nothing else, but he knows where every other quest giver is. His menu lists each of them with where they stand and how far along you are in their work. Left-click a giver and he tells you where they are, with a link that opens the live map right over them and a button to travel there that shows your price. Right-click a giver to be taken there.
The specialists live out in Aldoria, and each gives one or two kinds of work. Finding them is half the point, and the Quest Master will point the way. Each of them also has a page on People of Aldoria with the map spot and what they say when you meet them.
| Quest giver | Quests | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Marta Clayridge | Farming | Ashville Acres |
| Ivo Deepstone | Mining and digging | Whispering Woods |
| Hattie Thorncut | Woodcutting | The lumber camp, Grinwood Forest |
| Pell Tideswell | Fishing | Windshore Town |
| Rook Ashfall | Hunting and taming | Twinridge Crest |
| Nell Bridlepath | Caretaking | Windshore Town |
| Osric Vane | Brewing | Moonfall Town |
| Wilhelmina Starke | Enchanting and experience | The witch's hut, Whispering Woods |
| Tobin Mortar | Building and crafting | Dave's Ironmine |
| Greta Ironclad | Smelting and smithing | The blacksmith's, Moonfall Town |
| Fenna Petalwick | Collecting | The merchant's, Moonfall Town |
| Jory Farstride | Travelling | The harbour, Windshore Town |
| Brann Goodale | Playtime and eating | The Moonfall Tavern |
| Sable Coinreach | Trading | The town market, Windshore Town |
| Gorm the Unbowed | Hardcore | Whispering Woods |
Fast travel
The Quest Master will send you straight to any quest giver. Talk to him in the Moonfall Castle courtyard and right-click a giver in his menu, or left-click one and press Take me there in what he tells you. Fast travel only starts from him, so visit the courtyard first.
| Your rank | A trip costs |
|---|---|
| No rank | $250 in-game |
| Knight, Lord or Paladin | $100 in-game |
| Duke or King | Free |
| Streamers and YouTubers | Free |
Your own price is shown on every giver in the Quest Master's menu. When a trip costs money, nothing is taken straight away: you are told the price and have 30 seconds to press Pay and go. Every trip takes 3 seconds to get going, so stand still: if you move, the trip is called off and you keep your money. You only pay once you actually arrive. If you would rather walk, walk.
Using the menu
/quests (or /quest, /q) opens the quest board: pick a category, then a quest to see its tasks and a progress bar for each.
- Start this quest (or Take this quest on a giver's board) begins it.
- Track this quest puts its progress above your hotbar as you play.
- Abandon is a shift-click, and the progress is lost. You can start it again.
/quests listprints what is running in chat, and/quests activejumps to it.
Quests count as you play, wherever you are; nobody needs to be handed anything at the end.
First steps
New to Aldoria? Start with First steps, top right in the Quest Master's menu. It is five short jobs that show you around, one after another:
| Step | What to do | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Open the market with /market | $100 |
| 2 | Look at your profile with /profile | $100 |
| 3 | Jump in the magic pond to reach the survival world, then /claim where you want to live | $100 |
| 4 | /sethome there, so /home brings you back | $100 |
| 5 | Look through the guilds with /guilds. Joining one is up to you | $200 and 10 Level XP |
Pick up step 1 from the Quest Master. Each step after that starts by itself when the one before is done. Every step also fills in an entry on the Codex's Objectives page. You can only do them once.
Daily errands
The Quest Master's Daily errands are the other kind of work he still hands out himself: four small jobs: break 96 stone, catch 8 fish, harvest 48 crops, put down 15 hostile mobs. Each pays $400 in-game and 10 Level XP and comes back 24 hours after you finish it. They are the quickest Level XP on the server, so they are worth a look every day.
Playstyle mastery
Your playstyle has quests of its own: three mastery ranks that earn you a tag in the style's colour. Nobody hands these out. Rank I starts by itself when you pick a style and shows up in your journal next to your other quests. Only your current style's mastery counts, and leaving the style pauses it until you pick it again.
Your journal on the board shows what you have running and how far along it is. Quests that belong to a giver are picked up from that giver.
Who knows you
The quest givers get to know you as you work for them. Every quest you finish in a giver's categories counts once, however many times you do it again, and as the count grows you move up with that person: Met, Regular, Trusted and Friend. You never move back down.
Talking to a giver once is enough for Met. How many finished quests the other steps take depends on how much work that giver has:
| Quest giver | Regular | Trusted | Friend |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ansel Moonwright (First steps and daily errands) | 3 | 8 | 17 |
| Pell Tideswell | 3 | 8 | 20 |
| Marta Clayridge, Hattie Thorncut, Nell Bridlepath, Osric Vane, Tobin Mortar, Greta Ironclad, Jory Farstride | 3 | 12 | 40 |
| Ivo Deepstone, Rook Ashfall, Wilhelmina Starke, Fenna Petalwick, Brann Goodale, Sable Coinreach | 3 | 20 | 60 |
| Gorm the Unbowed | 1 | 4 | 10 |
The first visit after you move up, the giver tells you so in their own words, and a chat line says where you stand now. From then on they greet you the way they greet someone they know that well. While your hints are on, a chat line and an Away inbox line let you know when someone has something to say. The Quest Master's menu shows how well each specialist knows you, under your quest counts.
Brann counts his Eating quests only. His playtime quests can be done by standing in the AFK pond, so they still pay as usual but don't count toward knowing him.
Three titles come from being known across Aldoria. They count the quest givers and the people who post on the commission board:
| Title | How to earn it |
|---|---|
| Familiar Face | Regular or better with 5 people |
| Trusted Hand | Trusted or better with 5 people |
| Friend of Aldoria | Friend with 10 people, at least 2 of them from the commission board |
Wear them from /tags once they're yours. They can't be bought, and you keep them.
/townsfolk lists who knows you, how many more quests each giver needs for your next step with them, and how close you are to each title. /townsfolk hints off turns off the chat and inbox hints, and /townsfolk merchants off stops the merchants' greetings; on brings either back. Being known changes what people say to you and the titles you can wear. Prices and rewards stay exactly the same.
Rewards
Money, materials, and now and then something rarer, scaling with the tier. Jobs pay for the same work at the same time, so a farmer with a farming quest is paid twice for one harvest.
Aurelune Away shows the same journal on the website.
